Mike - there is a reason for every coincidence

When Mike quit on me years ago at DoubleClick, I was devastated. Mike told me that he burned out, needed a change, however, I always believed that I was not good enough to keep him, that's why he left. I hope this time around, I am lucky enough to keep him longer, form a long lasting partnership.

When I was thinking about FreeWheel, Mike was ready for a change too, from the startup he was working on. We met when he came to the city for a break. It was still pretty cold, he wore shorts, like he always does...He wears shorts for as long as I remember...We complained iPhone was useless, except nice-looking. He still liked sidekick, I bought one after his recommendation, liked it, threw away, switched to blackberry long time ago. I suggested Vento, an Italian place that I like. Mike is an Italian, I later found out.

We talked about random stuff, had a great time. I always like talking to Mike, he is one of the smartest friends that I consider I am lucky to know. Mike likes to complain about random stupid stuff, and I enjoy listening to his rants We also talked about FreeWheel. He asked a lot of questions, questions I never thought of myself. That is why I like talking to him, he is very thorough and detail oriented, if he thinks it through, it is truly thought through.

We talked about FreeWheel A LOT after that, including phone conversations at random nights each lasted several hours. He finally told me that I am a "good sales woman", and he joined. Thinking back, I couldn't imagine where we could be without him saying "yes" on that day. It was one of the happiest days in my life.

The V1 product code name was Rahway release, Mike's birth town. We launched it on Dec 28th, Mike's birthday. When I asked the launch date to be Dec 28th ET/ 29th BT, I had no idea it is Mike's birthday...There is a reason for every coincidence.
