Airports Just Like Second Home

Alright, seeing Doug’s has developed a habit of sending out company-wide updates on the back seats of airplanes, I am going to try to develop a habit of blogging at the airport

For frequent travelers, airport is like the second home. I am not a frequent traveler by any standard comparing to our rock star sales force (small, although, effective, oh, I should say extremely effective ), however, over years, I have got to know airports pretty well. Especially when you are stuck at the airport, waiting for your never departing flight, you get to know every corner of the airport. Just like where I am right now, at San Francisco airport, sitting at the gate area for four hours, after completing my manicure and pedicure, two visits to the book store, and anything else that I can think of doing. The flight is still nowhere in the sight, the lonely announcement board just showed yet another 2 hours delay for the flight I am waiting for…This flight is going to turn into a red eye, if I am ever going to arrive my destination — NYC.

I have learned to be patient, after getting used to long and frequent delays between Chicago and NYC, the worst route in the states, flights rarely leave on time. Whenever delay happens, I would just get settled in a seat, sometime on the floor, zoom right into what I am doing, forget about the rest. In a situation that I couldn’t find a power outlet, I secretly wish electricity can be wireless, then I will be all set…

Lucky enough I am now in a “all set” mode, right next to a power outlet, not bothered by the delay, still in the mood of looking around the living room of my SFO “home” :

I have to admit it is not nearly as impressive as the new Beijing airport terminal…You should have heard me complaining many times about the old Beijing airport, it is totally not up to the standard, and completely overloaded. I have to say that the new airport terminal that was just put into service is impressive, it feels like an airport for an internationalized city, FINALLY. I couldn’t help taking some pictures when I left Beijing last week. It is huge and very modernized, feels like the HongKong airport that was frequently on my praised list, only bigger…

My flight finally arrived JFK, at 2:20am in the morning, Jo arranged car service for me via Ozo car, to my surprise, they use Prius, not the old and boring Lincoln town car! That just made my “morning”!

Btw: I am uploading this blog using WIFI in Ozo’s Prius car.
