The Chinese Memory - Treasures of the 5000-year Civilization
中国记忆 - 五千年文明瑰宝
Went to the Capital Museum to check out the Chinese Memory exhibition before I leave for US. I have to say it was time well spent!

The exhibition was organized in four parts: prehistoric times, before the 21st century BC; the time of ritual and music, Xia to Qin Dynasty, 21st - 3rd century BC; prosperous times, from the Western Han Dynasty to the Sui, Tang, and the Five Dynasties, 3rd century BC to 10th century AD; and the end of the classical times, from the Song Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, 10th to 19th century AD. I found that I liked those bronze objects during the time of ritual and music the most.
I took pictures of a few interesting objects, share them here:
Jade Cong, made during Neolithic Age (around 3300 to 2250 BC), for religious purpose. It is the biggest and the most sophisticated Cong unearthed, hence it is named "the king of cong".

Bronze square ding (cauldron) with human faces, this was made during Shang Dynasty (about 1300 to 1046 BC). This is the only ding unearthed that is decorated with human faces.

Dehua-kiln statue of Guanyin (Avalokitesvara), this statue was made by He, ChaoZong during Hongzhi to Wanli era in Ming Dynasty (1504 - 1582 AD). He ChaoZong, known in the west as "Blanc-de-Chine", who was the master of ceramic art at the time.

And, finally, Diane inside the capital museum:

Amazing, I was there too! It's a lifetime chance to so many national treasures together. I'll recommend this exhibition to all my friends.
